Residents near Millerton Lake advised to continue boiling their water

The Fresno County Department of Public Works and Planning has extended its boil water notice for residents living near Millerton Lake to Feb. 23.

County officials expected to lift the notice that took effect on Jan. 19 by Feb. 9, but new water into Millerton Lake has increased the level of turbidity, or cloudiness, of the water being treated by the CSA 34 Surface Water Treatment Plant in the area. The turbidity can also effect the general water quality.

Currently, the high levels of turbidity in Millerton Lake are above state guidelines, according to a news release from the county public works department.

County officials are working on dealing with the issue, but until turbidity levels drop in Millerton Lake, residents in the area are being advised to boil their water or use bottled water.
