Hanford woman seriously injured after falling from Bastille Building

One woman is in critical condition after she fell while trying to climb to the roof of the Bastille building in Hanford, police said.

When police arrived shortly before 11 p.m. Friday, they found Mariah Hernandez, 18, Hanford, unconscious near the west side of the building.

Police said Hernandez’s older sister, Narin Macias, 20, and John Castillo, 21, were also on scene.

Macias and Castillo told police that the three climbed the fence of the fire escape and the back stairs of the building to get to the roof.

Investigators said Hernandez then climbed over the railing in order to get onto the roof and fell off the edge of the building.

Hernandez was transported by helicopter to Community Regional Medical Center.

Macias was arrested for public intoxication and booked into the Kings County Jail, while Castillo was cited for trespassing and released, police said.
