Derek Carr keeps on showing how much Valley Children’s Hospital means to him.

Back in 2013, his first son, Dallas, needed three surgeries because of an intestinal complication and stayed in the Valley Children’s neonatal intensive care unit for more than three weeks.

A year later, Carr was a starting quarterback in the NFL and giving back to the hospital in many ways. Last summer, Carr was one of the donors to the Valley Children’s Hospital playground renovation.

Now, Carr has donated 6,000 pairs of Oofos, a comfort sandal that he says he helped speed his recovery from a broken ankle he sustained in 2016.

“We just wanted to do something nice for the people that work so hard to keep our children healthy and safe in the Central Valley,” he said.

Carr learned about Oofos from Raiders trainer Chris Cortez. He called the sandals a “game-changer for me.”

“It relieves the stress my feet are under at all times,” he said. “When I get out of my cleats, they are sore and tired so the Oofos technology helps me recover faster. It also helps me get moving quicker after workouts, practices, and games with how it makes my body feel.”Last summer, Carr was one of the donors to Valley Children’s Hospital playground renovation.
