Pedestrian critical after she was struck by van in central Fresno. Police close street
A woman was in critical condition Tuesday night after she was struck by a van in central Fresno, police reported.
The collision took place on Shields Avenue east of Fresno Street about 6:25 p.m., said Lt. Israel Reyes.
The woman was reportedly with a man who ran south across the street outside of an intersection. The woman, in her 30s, was struck by the van when she ran in the same direction. Officer administered life-saving measures before she was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center.
Reyes said the driver of the van remained at the scene and there was no evidence that he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Shields was closed in both directions during an investigation of the incident.
