Fresno, other Valley hospitals welcome first babies of 2023. See the photos

Which Fresno-area hospital had the first baby of 2023?

Various hospitals acknowledged babies born after the clock struck midnight New Year’s Day.

Parents were proud to welcome their boy or girl.

The Bee takes a look at the hospitals that welcome the arrival of the babies.

Sierra View Medical Center

The Porterville hospital claimed the central San Joaquin Valley’s first baby of 2023, Bonifacio Tellez Roman, delivered at 12:10 a.m. with the help of Kim Estrada, RN of SVMC’s Maternal Child Health Department. Bonifacio weighed 7 pounds and 5 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. His due date was Jan. 4.

Bonifacio is little brother to Dulce Roman Jaimes’ first son Gabriel, who is 2 years old.

Kaiser Permanente

Asher Gray Flores was born at 12:18 a.m. He weighed 8 pounds and 10 ounces.

The mom is Kayana Flores, who gave birth to Scarlett 15 months ago. It’s the second child for Kayana and her husband.

Saint Agnes

Parents Lacie and Frederico Messias of Los Banos welcomed the birth of their baby girl, whom they named Evie Valentine Messias.

She was born at 12:24 a.m. and weighed 9 pounds, 2 ounces and was 21 inches.

Clovis Community Medical Center

Elianna Luna Corona arrived at 12:19 a.m. Elianna was 6 pounds, 14 ounces and 19 1/2 inches.

Her parents, Erick Corona and Andrea Rivera, said they hope she grows up healthy and that “all her dreams come true.” They said she’ll “really enjoy her birthday being on New Year’s” and “one day when she grows up she’ll see she was one of the first babies born in the Valley.”

Kaweah Health

Elias Perez was born at 1:01 a.m. Elias weighed 6.5 pounds and was 20.47 inches.

Elias was one of six babies delivered as of 1:42 p.m. The mom is Ana Perez Arreola of Visalia.

The first baby girl of 2023 born at Kaweah Health was Braelynn Tate Nicholson. She was born at 6:37 a.m. to Madelynn and Bradley Nicholson of Porterville.

Braelynn weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20.25 inches in length.
