Commuters in Fresno affected by rainy day crash blocking lanes on Highway 99, CHP says

Traffic was backed up Tuesday in south Fresno after a crash shut down two lanes of Highway 99, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A big rig was involved in a crash with two other vehicles about 5:30 a.m. on the south side of the highway near the North Avenue off-ramp, causing the blockage of lanes, CHP said.

The third lane was moving at a slow roll.

Officers were planning a complete shutdown of the south side to clear the wreckage once Caltrans and tow trucks can reach the scene, CHP said at about 6:20 a.m.

No injuries have been reported.

The Fresno weather through the Wednesday morning commute was forecast to be rainy.

CHP said the vehicles involved in the crash were off the roadway by about 7:15 a.m.

Two lanes of the south side of Highway 99 were closed early Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, following a crash involving a big rig, according to California Highway Patrol.
