Interstate 5 reduced to two lanes in Kings County next week

Lanes on Interstate 5 will close in Kings County starting on Sunday, Caltrans said.

The 24-hour lane closures for Interstate 5 are between the Highway 41 interchange to three miles south of the Utica Avenue interchange near Kettleman City.

Crews will close one lane of a two-mile section in each direction near the Highway 41 interchange from midnight Sunday to 2 p.m. July 17, Caltrans said.

During these closures, Interstate 5 will be reduced to one lane in each direction while crews perform roadway grinding, concrete panel replacement and paving operations.

Commuters should expect delays and are encouraged to take alternate routes whenever possible, Caltrans said. The California Highway Patrol will be on site assisting with traffic control and ensure drivers obey traffic laws.
