California Highway Patrol

Two people died Saturday afternoon after a traffic crash in Fresno County.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Nicholas Norton said the collision took place at 1:31 p.m. at DeWolf and East North avenues after the driver of a Nissan Altima going north on DeWolf stopped at but then proceeded into the intersection.

A 2019 Freightliner was going east on North Avenue when the Nissan pulled out in front of the truck, according to the CHP.

The truck hit the side of the Altima, with a man and a woman both dying. The man is 24 while the woman’s age was not known, Norton said.

The truck driver was not injured. Norton said there are no stop signs on North Avenue.

Alcohol or drugs are not a factor in the collision, Norton said.
