Rescue teams in sixth day of search for missing Fresno man, 85, with Alzheimer’s

Search and rescue teams from six counties continue to search for 86-year-old Ulysses Carr since he disappeared Friday from South Muscat Avenue and West Valentine, the Fresno County Sheriff’s office reported Wednesday.

Fresno sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said about 35 deputies and volunteers have completed a search of about 20 miles since Carr, diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, was seen leaving for a daily walk that usually covers two to three miles.

The volunteers involved in the search are part of search and rescue teams from Fresno, Merced, Madera, Kings, Tulare, and Kern counties. Searchers have checked out numerous tips from citizens of possible sightings, but nothing has panned out, said Botti.

Carr is described as black, 5-feet, 6-inches tall and 160 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and gray “Croc” shoes.
