Woman killed after big rig collides with car along Highway 43 near Hanford

A 47-year-old Visalia woman was killed early Tuesday when her 1998 Honda was broadsided on Highway 43 south of Hanford, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The CHP said the victim was westbound on Kent Avenue about 2:15 a.m. when she did not yield at a stop sign at Highway 43 and was struck by a southbound big rig driven by a 46-year-old Porterville man.

The victim was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, where she died of her injuries. The truck driver was not hospitalized.

The deceased woman was not identified pending notification by the Kings County Coroner.

Drugs or alcohol are not considered to have played a part in the collision, according to CHP.
