84-year-old Fresno County man suffers major injuries after getting struck by vehicle

An 84-year-old Fresno County man was in critical condition after getting struck by a vehicle Friday evening in Selma.
Selma Police said the collision happened at 5:09 p.m. in the area of Whitson Street and Floral Avenue, where responding officers found the pedestrian laying in the roadway.
It was determined that the pedestrian, who is a Selma resident, was unresponsive and suffering major injuries.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision remained on scene and was cooperating with the investigation, according to Selma Police.
It was not immediately known why the collision occurred or if it could’ve been avoided.
The 84-year-old man was transported to Community Regional Medical Center.
Officers do not suspect drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision, police said.
