A man on foot who was fatally struck by a car earlier this week was identified Wednesday as Raymundo Martinez, 45, of Fresno.

The Fresno County Coroner released the man’s identity two days after the collision took place around 6 p.m. Monday near Elm and North avenues south of Fresno.

California Highway Patrol said Martinez was walking south in the northbound lane of Elm when he was struck by a 38-year-old driver of a Toyota Corolla.

Martinez was knocked to the roadway with critical injuries and died at the scene.
