Pedestrian struck by car on dark Fresno street rushed to hospital with major injuries
A 44-year-old man suffered major injuries late Sunday after he was struck by a car on a dark Fresno road.
The California Highway Patrol said the victim was walking east around 7 p.m. in the 4500 block of West Shields Avenue, east of Cornelia Avenue, when he was struck by an eastbound driver who did not see the pedestrian. The CHP said the driver was not impaired.
Emergency responders rushed the victim to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was undergoing treatment late Sunday.
Officers closed a stretch of Shields Avenue during the investigation.
