Head-on crash blocks Highway 41 in both directions, snarling traffic in Madera County

A head-on collision blocked both lanes on Highway 41 in Madera County, the California Highway Patrol reported Friday.

The collision happened about 11:45 a.m. on the highway between Jewels Vista Drive and Highway 145, CHP said.

Drivers were attempting to make their way around the crash with both lanes blocked, causing cars to be backed up, CHP said. All lanes have since been cleared.

The driver of the Prius sustained major injuries, CHP said.
