Gusty winds trigger Valley health warning

The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District issued a warning Wednesday for gusty conditions leading to an unhealthy amount of particulate matter in the air.

The warning will last until Thursday morning and is in effect for the following counties: San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Madera, Fresno, Kings, Tulare and the Valley portion of Kern.

Exposure to particulate pollution can aggravate lung disease, asthma and bronchitis. It can also cause serious health problems and respiratory infections. Anyone with a history of these illnesses should contact a doctor before prolonged exposure.

More information is available at www.valleyair.org or by contacting the Fresno district office at (559) 230-6000.
