Three-alarm fire displaces six people in central Fresno
A three-alarm apartment fire displaced six people and resulted in one injury shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday at North Marks Avenue near Dakota Avenue in central Fresno, fire Capt. Brian Price said.
The injured person was transported to a local hospital, Price said. Six units of the apartment complex at 3448 N. Marks Ave. — two of which were unoccupied —sustained extensive damage, displacing six people.
Keisha Taylor, whose apartment was among those damaged, noticed smoke when she came home from work. She was able to get her mother and two young children out of the apartment before fire engulfed it.
Firefighters were expected to remain at the scene for several hours in order to assist with salvage operations, Price said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Price said. About half of the fire department’s resources — 12 units — responded to the scene, he said.
