Motorcycle rider dies, passenger injured in collision on Tulare County highway, CHP says
A man on a motorcycle died and his woman passenger was seriously injured in a crash with another vehicle on Monday afternoon in Tulare County.
The collision happened on State Route 63 just north of Ira Avenue in the city of Orosi, the California Highway Patrol reported Tuesday.
According to the CHP, the 59-year-old man his 49-year-old passenger were on a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle traveling south on the highway when a Toyota turned across both lanes directly in front of the bike. The CHP said it was an “unsafe turn from the west curb edge, across both southbound lanes directly into the path” of the motorcycle.
Both people where thrown on to the roadway when the motorcycle hit the driver’s side of the Toyota. The pair were transported to Kaweah Health Medical Center, the CHP said. The driver, who was not identified pending notifications, died during transport.
The passenger arrived with major injures.
The driver of the car had minor injures, the CHP said.
