Pedestrian killed in Visalia crash identified

A man who died Thursday after he was hit by a car while crossing a Visalia road was identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s office as Antonio Contreras Campos, 56, of Visalia.

Visalia police reported that Campos was crossing Dinuba Boulevard just south of Vine Avenue at 9:45 p.m. when he was hit by a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis. The car was driven by Genaro Diaz Cabrera, 38, of Visalia.

Campos was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. An investigation into the crash is underway.
