Big rig loaded with chickens overturns near Fresno. CHP says about 100 birds were killed
A Foster Farms big rig truck hauling chickens overturned just outside southwest Fresno on Friday.
The truck came to rest after crashing through a fence surrounding Pacific Gas and Electric towers on the northeast corner of Jensen and Cornelia avenues and spilling chickens about 5:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
About 100 chickens were killed, according to officer Mike Salas.
Two other vehicles were involved, CHP said. As the truck driver was headed west on Jensen without a stop sign, a driver headed south pulled in front of the truck and another vehicle before the collision, Salas said.
The big rig driver reported minor injuries and the other drivers were not injured, CHP said.
Jensen between Cornelia and Blythe avenues was closed down while the truck was being righted and towed away, CHP said.
