One man critically hurt, another arrested in shootings at Clovis apartment complexes

Clovis police are investigating a pair of early Sunday shootings, one of which left a man critically injured.

The first incident happened just before 3 a.m. at an apartment complex near Sunnyside and Gettysburg avenues.

Police said a party had been going on and as people began leaving, multiple shots were fired from one car into another in the parking lot.

One of the passengers, an adult male, was shot at least once and driven to the hospital by friends.

The man remained in critical condition, police said in a late-morning news release, as detectives and crime scene personnel investigate the shooting.

No arrests had been made, police said.

‘Ghost gun’ recovered in second incident

The second shooting happened just before 3:30 a.m. at an apartment complex near Barstow and Villa avenues. Witnesses reported seeing a man shooting a handgun in front of an apartment.

When police arrived, they used a drone to help locate a suspect inside an apartment. The man was detained and officers said a privately manufactured handgun, also known as a “ghost gun,” was found.

Shakab Alamary, 20, of Clovis was arrested on suspicion of multiple firearm-related felonies, but there were no injuries, police said.

Alamary was booked into Fresno County Jail.
