Driver dies after semi truck collides with train in Kingsburg, causing massive fire
A semi truck driver died after the vehicle collided with a train and caused a massive explosive Thursday in Kingsburg.
The crash happened around 7 p.m. near the intersection of Sierra and Simpson streets and in proximity of Highway 99.
A fire erupted following the crash and large clouds of smoke could be seen several miles away.
State Route 201 (Sierra/Conejo) was closed just east of State Route 99, according to Caltrans District 6.
Kingsburg Police said the following roads would be closed for hours:
- Draper and Simpson
- Sierra and Simpson
- Sierra and Marion
- Stroud and Simpson
- Simpson at Grocery Outlet
