Deputies with the Merced County Sheriff’s Office say they broke up a rodeo event that was operating without proper permit Saturday afternoon in Delhi.

According to a news release, the Merced County Sheriff Office’s S.T.A.R. Team, S.R.T. Team, Code Enforcement, and Animal Services Bureau executed a stop order to the event on Oak Street.

Deputies say bull riding and steer tail pulling was taking place. Deputies located the property owner and ended the event, the release said.

Deputies reported finding numerous code enforcement violations including non-permitted structures.

Animal Services officers also located an injured bull that was missing a foot of its tail.

Deputies believe the bull lost part of its tail during the tail pulling portion of the event. The bull is now in the care of Animal Services, the release said.
