Woman hit, killed by vehicle in Fresno — the 15th pedestrian death in 2022, police say

Fifteen pedestrians have been struck and killed in Fresno so far this year, including three last month.

The latest pedestrian fatality in the city was reported Wednesday morning at the intersection of Olive and Recreation avenues, when a driver called 911 to report he’d hit someone.

Police believe Mayra Fisher, 38, of Fresno was standing in the westbound lane of Olive when she was struck.

Fisher was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where she died, police said.

The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation, police said. For his part, drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the collision, police said.

This made 29 fatal vehicle collisions in the city this year, resulting in 30 deaths. Of those, half involved pedestrians. The city had 14 pedestrian deaths at this point last year, police said.
