A fire on an embankment on Highway 180 in central Fresno burned half an acre Friday afternoon, officials said.

The fire spread to a couple of trees in a surrounding neighborhood on East Mildreda Avenue and North Yosemite Avenue, and firefighters responded quickly so that the fire would not spread to the porch of a home on East Mildreda Avenue.

According to the Fresno Fire Department, the fire was expected to be under control soon, and they should be clearing the highway in the next 30 minutes. Only the emergency lane is blocked. Four engines, one water tender and a battalion chief are present.
