10-month-old who drowned in Fresno tub identified. Coroner says water was 6 inches deep
A 10-month-old baby boy who died Friday night in a bathtub was identified Monday as Eduardo Silva Jr.
The death took place despite an officer’s lifesaving efforts at the home, after police arrived about 7 p.m. at an apartment in the 1200 block of East Clinton Avenue to answer a call of possible drowning.
The father told police he walked away for about a minute while giving the baby a bath, but returned to find the child facedown in the water, police said.
An officer initially revived the baby, gaining a pulse, but the baby was pronounced dead at Community Regional Medical Center a short time later.
Lt. Skye Leibee said an investigation was underway to determine if there was criminal negligence, but that did not initially appear to be the case.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office on Monday reported the tub water was 6 inches deep.
