Fresno County firefighters were busy putting down two blazes Thursday afternoon, one west of Fresno city limits and one near Reedley.

The one near Fresno was still burning at 6 p.m., according to a Cal Fire/Fresno County Fire spokesperson.

That fire was in the area of Valentine Avenue between Jensen and Grove avenues. There wasn’t damage to any structures, but 10 to 15 abandoned vehicles burned. It was contained to the property where it started, sparking in an unoccupied RV.

No injuries to civilians were reported but one of over 30 firefighters on scene suffered a minor, unspecified injury. Fresno County Fire, North Central Fire, Fresno City Fire and a California Air National Guard water tender responded.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Earlier, crews battled for two hours to extinguish a fire near Central and Buttonwillow avenues north of Reedley, the Cal Fire/Fresno County Fire spokesperson said.

The fast-moving grass fire burned an abandoned house and several vehicles. There were no injuries reported, and the cause is under investigation.

Total acreage for either fire was not immediately available.
