Update: 52-acre wildfire in Fresno County foothills partially contained. Road reopens
A 52-acre wildfire in the Fresno County foothills that destroyed two structures Friday was 65% contained as of Saturday morning, according to CAL Fire/Fresno County Fire.
Auberry Road has reopened in both directions.
Called the Table Fire, the blaze erupted around 1 p.m. Friday northeast of Clovis near Auberry Road north of Millerton Road.
Several homes near Auberry Road were evacuated when the fire started, said Fresno County Sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti.
Since then, White Thorne Road at Auberry Road has reopened only to residents, who should be prepared to show ID to get to their homes.
Fresno County Fire Battalion Chief John Dominguez said air and ground units were fighting the blaze.
A mobile home and a shed were destroyed, Dominguez said.
About 150 personnel are fighting the fire. Assisting Cal Fire was Fresno County Fire, Fresno Fire, Clovis Fire, U.S. Forest Service, Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, Fresno County Roads, National Guard, California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation and Auberry Fire.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. No injuries were reported.
