Man in 30s killed after being ejected from vehicle in Madera County crash, CHP says

A Madera man was killed in a solo vehicle crash in Madera County on Thursday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash happened at 4:20 p.m. on Road 28 1/2, just north of Oregon Avenue.

The driver, described as a man in his 30s, was headed north on Road 28 1/2 when his silver Hyundai veered off to the right shoulder. The driver tried to correct but lost control and struck a fence pole before overturning into a dirt field, Officer Jose Herrera said.

The man was thrown from the vehicle during the crash. Witnesses rushed over to help him, Herrera said. He was pronounced dead a short time later at Madera Community Hospital.

His name was not released pending notification of family.

CHP said Friday that alcohol appears to have contributed to the crash.
