Update: ‘Firefighters making good progress’ in fire off Highway in east Fresno County

Fresno County firefighters Tuesday afternoon battled a blaze in the Squaw Valley area of the Highway 180 corridor.

The blaze was reported about 2:30 p.m. in the 3600 block of Hopewell Road.

In an update around 4:30 p.m., Cal Fire reported on social media that “firefighters were making good progress.”

Spokesman Dan Urias said 25 acres had burned, and the blaze was 25 percent contained, as crews attempted to stop the spread to an additional 200 acres.

Two fire crews, three bulldozers, eight engines and an aircraft were on scene.
