The Fresno Chaffee Zoo has a new wallaby hanging out in Roo Walkabout.

In a statement on Monday, the zoo said the baby wallaby is out of its mothers pouch after nine or so months and can be seen in the Australian walk-through exhibit, which also features red kangaroos, wallaroos, emu and kookaburras.

Wallabies when they are born are about the size of a jellybean and, because they are marsupials, continue to develop inside the pouch of their mother. The Tammar wallaby is native to Australia and it’s among the smallest among the species of wallabies, differing from the kangaroo only in size.

Earlier in May, the zoo announced the birth of a pair of Colobus monkeys.

The monkeys are one of the many species the zoo supports through its conservation efforts.
