Motorcycle rider killed on Road 222 near North Fork after being thrown from his bike

A Fresno man died on Thursday after he was thrown from his motorcycle while riding near North Fork.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was riding on Road 222 near Auberry Road in Madera County just before noon when he missed a curve and went onto the dirt shoulder of the road.

He was thrown from the bike, a 2001 Honda, which then hit a wooden Department of Forestry sign.

CalFire, CHP and emergency medical units were dispatched to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released pending notification.

CHP said it doesn’t know how fast the rider was going when he lost control or if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
