You can get gas for under $5 a gallon at these Fresno-area gas stations
Gasoline prices dipped below $5 a gallon at multiple locations in the central San Joaquin Valley this week, even as the national price has risen slightly, according to fuel price watchers.
According to the American Automobile Association, the national average gas price for unleaded regular this week is $4.31 a gallon, compared to $4.10 a week ago. However, in California, the most expensive market in the nation because of stringent fuel quality requirements and higher taxes, the average cost of a gallon this week, $5.68, was down from $5.70 a week ago.
Prices in the Bay Area were among the state’s highest, with gas still averaging $5.70 in Santa Clara County and $5.72 in Marin County. The average price in Fresno County, in comparison, was well below that.
Here’s a roundup of the lowest prices for unleaded regular fuel in the Fresno area:
- Costco, 2270 Clovis Avenue: $4.85 (membership price)
- ARCO, 2429 E. McKinley Avenue: $4.89
- EZ Trip, 6639 N. Parkway Dr.: $4.89
- Walmart, 14037 N. Whitesbridge Ave, Kerman: $4.95
- Gulf, 801 Academy Ave., Sanger: $4.97
Of course, driving around in search of the best gas price could be counterproductive. Slowing down and avoiding jackrabbit acceleration from stoplights might save a driver more, according to hypermiling experts.
