Clovis bomb squad detonates safe left on side of major street. Who does it belong to?
The Clovis Police Bomb Squad detonated a suspicious box that caused a major street to be closed for about four hours Monday evening.
The box turned out to be a safe, according to Clovis Police Sgt. Jim Koch. The safe contained personal items inside but nothing life-threatening, Koch said.
The intersection of Willow and Spruce avenues was reopened to traffic about 9 p.m. Koch said police will be reviewing surveillance video to try and find the owner of the safe.
Just before 5 p.m., Clovis police received a report of a person in a vehicle leaving a suspicious black box on the side of the road at Willow and Spruce avenues, according to Clovis Police Public Information Officer Ty Wood.
Police closed Willow Avenue between Herndon and Alluvial avenues. The bomb squad was called to the area.
