Driver runs stop sign in Fresno County, causing five people to be sent to the hospital
Five people were injured in a two-vehicle collision Saturday afternoon in Fresno County.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the crash just after 5:30 p.m. at South Englehart and East Parlier avenues.
Sgt. Chris Swanberg said a Nissan Altima appeared to run a stop sign and collided with a Chevy Tahoe on the driver’s side.
Three people in the Tahoe were taken to the hospital and two were injured in the Nissan Altima, with one being airlifted to Fresno Community Regional Medical Center.
Swanburg said the Nissan was traveling westbound on Parlier Avenue into Englehart Avenue and the white Chevy Tahoe was going northbound on Englehart where the collision occurred in the intersection. There is a controlled stop sign on Parlier Avenue, Swanberg said.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected in the collision, he said.
