Airplane with nearly 60 passengers forced to make emergency landing at Fresno airport

A commercial passenger airplane had to make an emergency landing at Fresno Yosemite International Airport on Monday afternoon due to a cracked windshield.

The landing occurred around 4 p.m., airport public information officer Vikkie Calderon said.

The plane made a safe landing and no medical aid was required, Calderon said.

Johnathan Lopez of the Fresno Fire Department said the plane — American Airlines flight 3130 — was flying from Phoenix to California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport in Arcata.

The plane was a SkyWest craft and had 56 to 58 passengers on board.

SkyWest confirmed the incident in a statement sent out Monday night.

“SkyWest flight 3130, operating as American Eagle from Phoenix, Arizona (PHX) to Arcata, California (ACV), landed safely in Fresno, California (FAT) after experiencing a cracked windshield,” the statement said. “The flight later continued to Arcata on a different aircraft.”
