Fire heavily damages Chowchilla home

Fires at a home near Chowchilla caused $200,000 in damage to the structure and $100,000 to its contents early Thursday, the Madera County Fire Department reported.

The blaze erupted about 1:30 a.m. near Robertson Boulevard and Cates Court. One firefighter sustained a minor injury. The homeowner and her animals escaped without being hurt.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
