‘Rest easy Deputy King’. Veteran deputy dies at home, Mariposa County sheriff says
A veteran deputy with the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office died Wednesday while off duty.
Deputy Michael King died at his home on Wednesday, the sheriff’s office said on social media.
The cause of death is pending an autopsy.
“It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the untimely off-duty death of MCSO Deputy Michael King,” the sheriff’s office said.
King had been with the sheriff’s office since 2006.
A procession carrying his body took place Wednesday afternoon with the assistance of the California Highway Patrol.
“Please keep the King family and the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office in your hearts,” the sheriff’s office wrote.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret King, brother Ken King, fiancé Sheila Baker, stepson Steven Baker and son, Austin.
