Fresno police officer faints, falls off motorcycle
A Fresno police motorcycle officer was taken to a hospital after he fainted and fell off his BMW on Wednesday morning in southeast Fresno.
Lt. Joe Gomez said the incident occurred at 9:12 a.m. A citizen alerted police to the incident near Maple and Tulare avenues.
Witnesses said the officer was southbound on Maple when he came to a stop at Iowa Avenue and fell over in the roadway. He told arriving officers he was light-headed and was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center. The motorcycle sustained light damage to a crash bar.
Gomez said it is possible the incident could be related the region’s high temperatures and humidity or it could be a medical condition. The officer, a 22-year veteran of the department, is in stable condition.
At 3:17 p.m., Gomez said the officer was doing much better and fully alert. He will likely be admitted to Community Regional for observation.
