2-year-old girl dies in Fresno County after suspected DUI crash. Driver arrested, CHP says
A 2-year-old girl died overnight in Fresno County after what officers suspect to be a drunken-driving crash, the California Highway Patrol said Friday.
A Richmond man named Angel Meza Michel, 29, was driving a 2007 Honda south on Interstate 5 north of 25th Avenue shortly before midnight Thursday, CHP said.
For an unknown reason, he allowed the car to drift into a shoulder on I-5 before it overturned near Kettleman City in Kings County, CHP said.
Meza Michel suffered major injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. The 2-year-old girl riding in the car died from her injuries, according to CHP.
Her name has not been made public.
CHP said they arrested Meza Michel on suspicion of DUI.
