Fresno State will no longer require face masks to be worn while indoors starting Monday, the university announced.

Thursday’s announcement coincides with the statewide mask mandate coming to an end for California schools on Friday.

University officials said those on campus do not have to wear masks as long as they’ve not been in contact with someone sick with COVID-19 within the past 10 days or if they have not tested positive for the virus within the past 10 days.

Despite the rule change, school officials in an email encouraged Fresno State students and staff to still wear masks.
