Four people died Wednesday in a western Fresno County crash, the California Highway Patrol confirmed.

The crash on Interstate 5 north of Derrick Avenue involved at least two vehicles, including a big rig, CHP said.

No information on the four passengers in the fatal crash was immediately available, CHP said.

I-5 is closed on the southbound side at Kamm Avenue and traffic is being diverted off of the interstate to Highway 33, and then to Derrick Avenue to get back to I-5, CHP said.

The southbound lanes have no estimated time for reopening, CHP said.
