Five men killed in Fresno County head-on crash near Table Mountain Casino identified
Names of five people killed in the two cars involved a day earlier in a head-on collision near Table Mountain Casino were released Sunday by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
Javier Hernandez, 20, of Lemoore, Miguel Tijerina, 43, of Clovis, Marcelino Ramirez, 32, of Clovis, and John Carlin, 28, of Fresno, were in a 2016 Hyundai Accent in the early Saturday morning crash.
The men all worked together at a local business, said Tony Botti, the Sheriff-Coroner’s Office public information officer, in a Sunday afternoon email.
Kerman resident Ramandeep Sran, 48, died as one of three people in a 2003 Honda Accord.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred about 4:30 a.m. along Millerton Road near Marina Drive, just west of the casino.
Hernandez was driving with the three other men in the Hyundai heading south on Millerton when the car crossed a double-yellow line and into the opposite lane, according to the CHP.
The Hyundai collided head-on with the northbound Honda.
All four people in the Hyundai died at the scene. Ramirez and Carlin were both thrown from the car in the crash.
Sran also was ejected in the collision, according to a CHP report. The other two people in the Honda were taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with major injuries.
While the investigation is ongoing, according to the CHP, “The use of alcohol is believed to have been a factor in this collision on the part of the Hyundai driver.”
