Motorcyclist is killed after collision with a truck, closing part of a busy Fresno street
A motorcycle rider was killed after colliding with a pickup truck Saturday evening in northwest Fresno.
The crash happened at 5 p.m. on North Blackstone Avenue near Herndon Avenue.
Fresno police Lt. Skye Leibee said the driver of the truck was making a U-turn from northbound Blackstone to southbound Blackstone on East Magill Avenue and misjudged the speed of the motorcycle and the rider struck the passenger side of the truck in the No. 2 lane.
The man, said to be in his mid-20s, was pronounced dead at the scene, Leibee said. The truck driver was not hurt and remained at the crash, police said, and was cooperating with the investigation.
A passenger in the truck also was not injured.
Southbound traffic on Blackstone, from Herndon, was closed off. Police said the scene might not be clear for up to three hours.
