Bad weed in your stash? California cannabis agency orders recall for Head Banger

Watch out for some bad Head Banger, warns the state agency that regulates marijuana in California.

The Department of Cannabis Control on Wednesday issued a mandatory recall of packaged cannabis flower from Claybourne Co. that is contaminated with Aspergillus niger.

The state agency said anyone who purchased it should check batch numbers and dispose of any plants that match the alert.

To date, no one has reported becoming ill, the agency added.

The recall is for a batch sold in various size jars between Nov. 2, 2021, and Jan. 26, 2022:

▪ Strain: Head Banger

▪ Track and trace UID: 1A406030000326B000094476

▪ Batch number: 28090621HB

Aspergilllus niger is a fungus commonly known as black mold. Most people who come in contact with it experience no symptoms, but some with compromised immune symptoms may become ill.

The packages that match the numbers should either be disposed of or returned to the vendor.

To find out if the strain was sold in your county, check here. The state DCC said the strain was sold in 15 counties including Fresno and Sacramento.

In Fresno, the agency reported that the delivery service Ganjarunner carried the variety. However, a man who identified himself as a dispatcher named George said, “We don’t carry that.”
