Update: Downtown Fresno highway reopens after repairs for collision damage

A driver crashed into a freeway guardrail on Highway 41 Wednesday morning, partially blocking the transition to northbound Highway 99 near downtown Fresno.

That forced closure of at least a portion of the interchange until noon, the California Highway Patrol reported after the damage was assessed. True to its word, the roadway was open on time.

The crash happened about 5:15 a.m. Emergency workers were called to free the victim on the busy section of highways, the CHP reported. The driver’s condition and other details about the crash were not immediately known.
