Fresno man, 26, identified as victim in fatal crash with big rig near Fowler
A 26-year-old Fresno man was killed Monday night when he failed to yield for a stop sign southeast of Fresno and collided with a big rig, the California Highway Patrol reported.
He was identified by the Fresno County Coroner as Malik Blakeney, 26.
The crash took place about 6 p.m. as Blakeney, in a Hyundai, was northbound on Temperance Avenue south of North Avenue when he entered the westbound lane of North into the path of the truck hauling lemons. The truck slammed into the right front passenger door of the Hyundai.
The 58-year-old truck driver lost control and spun, causing the load of lemons to spill onto the roadway before the driver regained control.
Blakeney died at the scene.
