Vehicle inside Fresno tire shop catches becomes fully engulfed in flames

Fire crews responded to a commercial fire after a vehicle caught fire Thursday night inside of a tire shop in southeast Fresno.

Crews were called around 8 p.m. to the area of Belmont Avenue and Seventh Street following reports of a fire inside Valley Tire and Wheel, according to Fresno Fire Department Battalion Chief Devin McGuire.

As crews arrived, they found a vehicle inside the garage area full engulfed in flames.

Crews immediately worked to extinguished the flames before it could spread to rest of the building. The roof suffered major damage due to the flames and smoke damage was seen throughout the building, according to McGuire.

Mechanics were working on the car earlier in the day, but no one was in the building at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
