Did you feel it? Earthquake in eastern Sierra Nevada near Big Pine shakes Fresno, Valley
An earthquake rumbled roughly 100 miles northeast of Fresno, creating a slight jolting feeling that lasted a few seconds Wednesday.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported the earthquake occurred at 4:28 p.m. near Deep Springs, which is about 60 miles east of Kings Canyon National Park on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada.
The earthquake registered at 4.8 magnitude.
It is unclear if any damage occurred. But major destruction was unlikely based solely on the magnitude being less than 5.5 on the Richter scale, according to an earthquake magnitude scale by Michigan Tech University.
