Reedley man struck, killed riding bicycle in Fresno County — a hit-and-run, CHP says

A bicyclist was killed while riding along Alta Avenue near Manning Avenue in Fresno County on Monday.

On Tuesday, the Fresno County Coroner identified the man, as 69-year-old Robert Holguin of Reedley.

Holguin was riding outside the lane of traffic and on the shoulder of the road around 7 p.m. when he was struck from behind and thrown from his bicycle, according to a report from the California Highway Patrol.

He died at the scene.

The driver, the CHP said, continued without stopping to provide help or call for emergency services.

Holguin was not on drugs or alcohol when he was struck, the CHP said.

So far, there is no description of the car or the driver and the CHP is asking anyone with information to call the Fresno office at 559-705-2200 or Crime Stoppers at 559-489-STOP.
