Fire in the garage of a central Fresno home triggered search for possible victims
A fire inside the garage of a central Fresno home had firefighters in rescue mode Sunday after being told there might be two elderly people trapped inside.
When firefighters arrived about 10:15 a.m., the home’s garage at Shields and Glenn avenues was on fire with smoke billowing into the sky.
Fire crews immediately began to battle the fire and aggressively searched for possible victims, but no one was found inside, said Battallion Chief Brad Driscoll.
The fire was put out in about 15 minutes. The garage doubled as a small print shop.
Driscoll said the cause of the blaze and the total cost of the damage were still being investigated.
